BitDefender Update Error

As of Saturday, users of BitDefender antivirus software are in a bit of a quandary. A bad update got released and suddenly caused systems running 64-bit Windows to recognize good software as bad , returning false positives, and stop functioning correctly.
The company has recognized the error with the update and posted this on Saturday,
"Due to a recent update for systems it is possible that BitDefender detects several Windows
and BitDefender files as infected with Trojan.FakeAlert.5.", said the company.
They also go on to give instruction to solve the issue for users of BitDefender 2010, but for users of the 2008 and 2009 version of the product, a fix is not available at this time.
